The massive development of bislig in agricultural and industrial aspect made the municipality a meting pot in surigao del sur. In area of education. Bislig is recognize as the school belt of surigao del sur, being part of the borders of agusan del sur, bukidnon and davao oriental.
Among the many existing schools which sprouted in the middle part of the 60's was Recaredo Castillo College.The school had an existing program from kinder to college. With the increasing demand for short term quality education . the Recaredo Castillo College or RCC enriched her programs by offering Technical Vocational School owned by Mr. & Mrs. Jose L. Toyco, Sr. in 1974.
The Management problems that rocked the RCC school administration coupled with unprecedented increase in enrollment in the technical-vocational courses of the institution. the Technical Ddevelopment of RCC too an ambitios eap to seperate from the mother school and named it as Saint Joseph Technical School which later expanded her array of courses needed by the community.
In 1986, In line with the circular of the Department of Education, Culture and Sports ordering the conversion of single proprietorship schools into Corporation. Saint Joseph Technical School was change to Southern Technological Institute of the Phils.,Inc. and expanded offering by adding degree courses and complete Secondary Education.
With the thought of providing quality education to poor but deserving students, STIP has continued expanding its curriculum, Presently, she is offering the following Degree Programs. Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Bachelor of Science of Secondary Education TESDA Courses are Automotive Servicing NC II and Food Beverage .
The following program has been applied for Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Bachelor in Elementary Education and TESDA Courses of Security Services NC II. Guided with the belief that "The best is nnot always measured by its cost but by tis quality" STIP continues in enriching her offerings to offer quality but affordable education to the people of Bislig and nearby municipalities and cities.
